Having a hard time deciding where in your home to place your recently purchased (or recently gifted) scented candle?
When it comes to organizing or designing a space, the first thing you want to think about is the function of the room. The same rule applies for deciding where to place scented candles.
Candles should reflect whatever the purpose of the given room is.
Is there a place you meditate each morning? Do you have a reading ritual each night? Think about what kind of ambience and fragrance could enhance those experiences, and make each room feel more unique.
Ask yourself, “What is the size of this room?”. This question matters because you don’t want the fragrance in smaller rooms to be overpowering. Conversely, you don’t want the fragrance in a larger room to be underwhelming.
Here are some general guidelines regarding room size and candles:
- In small rooms or rooms with low ceilings, fragrance has less room to spread, a small candle is often enough to adequately scent your space.
- Medium-sized rooms (ie. a bedroom, or living room) could have 1 or 2 larger-sized candles burning at a time, depending on the candles' scent throw.
Large, spacious rooms with high ceilings may need as many as 2-3 candles (or a large candle with multiple wicks) spaced out to help the fragrance fully envelop the entire space.
